Payne Funeral Directors Eastbourne Location

Christopher Howard set up Payne & Sons Funeral Directors with his parents, Donna & Rod Payne, just 11 months after being severely injured by an IED whilst on foot patrol in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. Christopher lost 3 fingers on his right hand and his right leg through the knee.

Payne & Co of Eastbourne pride themselves on being a truly independent, family run Funeral Directors and will do their utmost to ensure the Funeral meets with all your personal needs and requirements, from the choice of coffin through to your chosen mode of transport. Once you have entrusted your loved one into the family’s care they will stay with the Paynes at their modern premises until the day of the funeral.

2) Rosedale Funeral Service Ltd Undertakers Eastbourne.                               62 Grove Road Eastbourne East Sussex BN21 4UH  01323 726 100  EMAIL          Rosedale Funeral Service are Independent Funeral Directors, owned and run by Kevin Young, who has been a Funeral Director in Eastbourne since 1984.

It was because the funeral industry was taken over by massive conglomerates like Dignity and the Co-op (believe it or not nearly all the other funeral directors in Eastbourne are part of conglomerates, whatever the name on the door) that Kevin decided to open Rosedale in April 1998. He believes that the most important thing to offer a bereaved family is not only a professional, caring quality service, but also a level of personal care that is difficult to obtain from a larger national company. Kevin is a fully qualified funeral director and holds the diploma in funeral directing and a member of and licensed by The British Institute of Funeral Directors.

You can be assured that when you entrust a loved one into Kevin’s care, they will remain on his premises until the day of the funeral. Rosedale offers a complete range of services from a simple basic funeral to the most elaborate service including a horse drawn hearse.

Here is some advice on Funeral Directors from Eastbourne Borough Council:

You will need to decide which funeral director to use. Friends, family, clergy or your doctor may be able to suggest reputable funeral directors and local firms will be listed in Yellow Pages. Remember that charges can vary considerably and you may wish to contact or visit more than one firm.

Most funeral directors are members of one of two trade associations:

The National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD)
The Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF)

See Other Websites for links to these associations’ websites, where you can find full contact details and download codes of practice. These codes of practice mean that funeral directors must provide a price list on request and their final charge will not exceed any written estimate given to you without your permission.

Your funeral director will need the Disposal Certificate for Burial or Cremation, issued to you by the Registrar or a Certificate of Cremation, issued by the Coroner. However, it is not necessary to delay contact with your chosen funeral director, who will be able to advise you on local conditions that may affect the time and day of the funeral.

Check when the funeral director’s account will have to be paid. Subsequently, when issued it should be itemised and clearly define the disbursements that have been paid on your behalf.

If you are not satisfied with the service you get, or the prices you are asked to pay, you could contact East Sussex County Council’s Trading Standards Department. If the funeral director is a member of NAFD or SAIF, you also have the option of using their conciliation services.

The Funeral Ombudsman will investigate, free of charge, complaints made against funeral directors who are members of the Funeral Ombudsman Scheme. If you have a complaint you should try to resolve it with the funeral director, however, if you are unsuccessful, you can write to:
