If the death occurred in Essex but you don’t live nearby, it is possible to register a death in Essex with any Registrar in England or Wales. This does cause a delay as they must forward the documentation to the registration district the person died in before the formal registration can take place, so there are two sets of post – to the registrar, and then to you. This will slow things down, possibly even the funeral.
