]]>I am beginning to feel like Sisyphus. It is a never ending cycle of emails to the probable registry and it is potluck if you get a reply. I am spending a fortune sending recorded and registered mail to prove correspondence. My legal fees ££££ to have a solicitor attempt contact. I am approaching second year of my case. Just when I thought I could wash my hands of the whole affair they appointed the wrong executor. I have now put in a complaint thanks to this page. Next step my MP.

The initial email confirms your order, not that it’s ready; the second email signals availability, then you log in to access and save the file.
Step-by-Step Guide to Downloading:
Check Your Inbox (and Spam): Look for the second email from HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) stating your order is ready to download.
Log In: Go to the GOV.UK Probate Search sign-in page.
Find Your Order: Navigate to the “My Orders” section or “My Wills”.
Download: Click the link for your grant/will; it will open as a PDF.
Save Immediately: Download and save the PDF to your computer; it’s usually available for 31 days.
Troubleshooting:
If it says “Pending”: It’s not ready yet; check back daily.
If it won’t open: Ensure you have a PDF viewer like Adobe Reader.

It varies tremendously Ingrid – some online cases come through in a couple of weeks, but anything with a query can take many months or more – especially if IHT is involved.
Some DIYers don’t reply to questions, so nothing happens at all – and it may just be an email gone into spam.
But constantly chasing solicitors is often expensive!
